On this day, let us remember what was brought to the Americas with the arrival of the parasites on the NiƱa, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria:
Violence
Slavery
Pestalence unknown to the Americas (Chicken pox, small pox, syphlus...)
Theft
Cultural destruction
Mass genocide
Concentration camps
Systemic planned starvation
Bigotry
Now did any of that exist here before? I'm sure petty theft did, but not the wholsale teft of the entire continent. Slavery? Some say yes and others say no...so maybe? Violence, I'm sure there were wars, domestic violence, etc, I mean you can't fill an area with people and not have an asshole somewhere in there.
American Indians did not go to their Concentration Camps willingly, we were forced there just like the Jewish peoples in Germany were--ever wonder where they got the idea? Blankets from small pox wards that should have been incinerated were shipped to those camps because "the only good Indian is a dead Indian." We were given whisky to guzzel because if your drunk you can't fight, and Indians usually get hooked on alcohol pretty easily--alcoholism is rampant in my family and yep we're a bunch of Indians.
Everytime someone shouts "trust..." something govermental I respond "Sure you can trust the government just ask an Indian." We were promised peace, they gave us sickness. We were promised food, they barely gave us enough to live. We promised healthcare, dogs in major cities got better.
With a few exceptions look at where the American Indian Nations used to be and look at where the Concentration Camps are now. We were forced onto the worst ground that provided nothing. The Cherokee were forced from roughly Georgia to Oklahoma! (Research the trail of tears, my family walked it!)
So on this day of the invader who couldn't navigate out of a paper sack, pick a tribe and start reading up on what White Man did to them.
