Been at the new job a month now and so far I have no complaints or even irritations 😳 I have learned they had one guy from open for about 25 or 28(?) years (building is 32 years old). He was obviously a document hoarder as things that only need kept 10 years for state compliance are stashed everywhere and some have dated back to 1998! No joke, I move piles of stuff and find binders, folders, and stacks, of documents behind them. So far we are up to 6 commercial 40 gallon (151 liters) trashcans/dustbins being hauled out of my office/shop.
Beyond paper there is the usual issue of things not put away properly/lack of organization (I am known for excessive organization--remember I have CDO Compulsive Disorder Obsessive 😁) the big upside is my district director is the same as me so I got a "go for it!"
My Executive Director went to school with my daughter but neither of them remembers the other, which tells you how big that high school is. I have free reign to clean and purge the shop and she pops in regularly to touch base, see how things are going or to borrow a screwdriver as she will handle little things she finds as opposed to passing the buck...a quality I have never seen in a director before.
I have gotten a 30 day review and there are no complaints or issues, been told I get learn of an issue and no one worries about it as it is done. That all the other directors feel the same and everyone finds me a pleasure to deal with 😊
I have had my own fun with everyone thinking I am 15 to 20 years younger than I am, they find out my age and are completely shocked 😁
Mornings have been chilly here most of the week and I realized my truck is not heating up...time for a new thermostat, but at least it is out in the open and easy to get at---that worries me it seems too easy (writing this at 07:00 on Saturday so will update how this went a bit later) Later! It took 45 mins beginning to end for the swap, no stuck bolts, nothing gave issues, heater now throws some serious heat out!
Will be working on a leak in the one valley of my roof, the gasket that was there seems to be missing suddenly. I guess me and Doc didn't do too bad on install as this is the first real issue I have had since we installed the roof in the summer of 2020.
For those keeping track my son is back to nearly normal and is looking at going back to school this next semester for his Mortuary Science degree...at least he will never lack for work. That also means in a few months I will be back to living alone again.
Plans for the shop are laid out, and with any luck I shall be disposing of the next sections of the old construction to make way for the replacement and not water damaged walls this next summer...more concrete to pour and walls to build! My goal is to have the shell up and enclosed before next winter.
The one tool I will need to buy in a ready to use format for the shop has been picked out. I may need to hire help to get it in the shop as it weighs 1,500 Lbs or 680 kg and I can't see me getting that inside on my own, but I have a couple of years to work that out.
For now I guess that is all.
